Thank you to all of those that joined Coloradans for Nebraska at An Afternoon with Husker Legends / Scholarship Recipient Lunch and coming out in the winter wonderland weather on Saturday, March 23, 2013, at Noonan’s Banquet Hall in Aurora. We had scholarship recipients come from the Denver metro area as well as from Wray, Ft Collins, and Pueblo. We had members join us from the Denver metro area, Colorado Springs, and Ft. Collins.
Highlights of the afternoon included:
* The opportunity to learn a little more about the 2013 / 2014 Scholarship Recipients that were in attendance. Fifteen $1500 scholarship recipients were chosen by the Scholarship Committee from the 34 applications received from Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors. An additional 12 Scholarships of $2000 each will be provided through UNL as part of the Husker Legend Scholarship Program for Freshman.
* Aaron Babcock of Hail Varsity provided information while showing highlights of the Future Husker Legend Football Players, the 2013 recruits. Hail Varsity also provided special gifts for those that subscribed to their great magazine the day of the event. * Courtney Osborne, Cameron Meredith, and Tim Marlowe shared stories of what it was like to be a student athlete, how the different sports support each other, and answered several questions from those in attendance. Everyone enjoyed listening to these speakers and spending time gathering autographs.
* There were many items in the silent auction so guests had the opportunity to take home great Nebraska items while supporting the Coloradans for Nebraska Scholarship Funds.
