Football Fridays at the Railyard
HerbieThe Nebraska Alumni Association’s Football Fridays are moving to Lincoln’s new entertainment district in the historic Haymarket this fall. The event series will take place at The Railyard, just north of Lincoln Station, at 5 p.m. on the day before each Nebraska home football game (except Iowa). The first of seven fall events is Aug. 30. A panel of Husker experts including Husker legend Tommie Frazier, the Husker Sports Network’s Matt Davison and local media members will preview Nebraska’s season opener and answer fans’ questions about the team. Events for Job Seekers
Through the NAA’s partnership with UNL Career Services, you are invited to take part in two upcoming events. At  “Preparing for the Job Search”Tuesday, Sept. 10, you’ll have the opportunity to have your resume reviewed, hear from a panel of experts and gain tips on interviewing. Then at the Fall Career Fair on Sept. 24-26, you can visit recruiters from more than 300 companies to learn about opportunities across the country. Walk Down Memory Lane
ArchieHow long has it been since you walked across the University of Nebraska-Lincoln campus? The campus is growing in dramatic ways, with more changes on the horizon. Let us show you! The Friday before each of the first seven home football games, the NAA will conduct one-hour tours of campus. The tours will start at the Wick Alumni Center, 1520 R Street, at 9 a.m., 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. Reminisce, and look toward the future. To register, call 1-888-353-1874.

School of Music Celebrates $8 Million Gift
KeenaghanFor generations to come, students and faculty members at the UNL School of Music will benefit from an $8 million gift from alumnus Glenn Korff to the University of Nebraska Foundation. The gift from the fourth generation Nebraskan creates a permanently endowed fund to provide annual support for students, faculty and programs within the school, which is part of the Hixson-Lied College of Fine and Performing Arts. In honor of Korff’s generosity, the school will be named the Glenn Korff School of Music, pending approval by the Board of Regents. John W. Richmond, director of the School of Music, said, “I don’t think it’s possible yet to fully comprehend the many ways this extraordinary naming gift will transform our School of Music as a teaching institution, as a cultural catalyst, as a center for research in music, and as a place of international synergy for music and dance.” Read more »
Law College Breaks New Ground
The University of Nebraska College of Law will open a new frontier in space law, launching a doctorate of judicial sciences degree (J.S.D.) program this month. For the past five years, UNL has been the only law college in the nation to offer an LL.M., or master of laws, degree in space, cyber and telecommunications law. Graduates of the one-year program have gone on to careers working for private companies like SpaceX; civilian agencies like the State Department and NASA Jet Propulsion Lab; and military operations such as the U.S. Cyber Command and Space Operations at Vandenberg Air Force Base. Read more »
UNL Awards Nebraska Scholarships
UNL CampusThe University of Nebraska-Lincoln has awarded more than 1,600 scholarships to 2013 Nebraska high school graduates who will enroll at UNL this month. The total potential value of the scholarships is approximately $15.3 million. Details about the scholarships, as well as a list of recipients, are available on UNL’s website.Read more »
Cornhusker Marching Band Preview
BandAlumni and fans are invited to Memorial Stadium Friday, Aug. 23, for The Cornhusker Marching Band Exhibition. Always a crowd-pleasing favorite, the exhibition will be a warmup for the season-opening game against Wyoming. The band will perform its Pregame Spectacular along with a preview of the first halftime show and many other Husker favorites. Fans are encouraged to enter Memorial Stadium through Gate 3 (southwest entrance) and Gate 11 (northwest entrance). Gates open at 6 p.m., and the performance is at 7 p.m. Read more »

Pinnacle Bank Open House
Pinacle Bank ArenaAlumni and fans are invited to a public open house for the new Pinnacle Bank Arena Aug. 29-31. On Thursday, Aug. 29, a ribbon-cutting ceremony begins at 4 p.m. Self-guided tours take place from 4-10 p.m., and arena staff will be on hand to answer questions about the facility. Nebraska Volleyball on TV
VolleyballThe Nebraska Athletic Department and NET Television announced on Tuesday that five regular-season Husker volleyball matches will air on the network during the 2013 season. NET matches include St. Mary’s (Sept. 12), Dayton (Sept. 13), Iowa State (Sept. 14), Indiana (Oct. 18) and Purdue (Oct. 19). Today’s announcement means that volleyball fans will be able to see the Huskers on television at least 10 times during the 2013 season. Fans Support Gordon, Erstad
A Royals College Night record 5,100 Nebraska alumni and fans showed up for the first-ever Husker Night at Kaufmann Stadium last Saturday in Kansas City. Fans showed their support for Nebraska alum and MLB All-Star Alex Gordon as well as Nebraska baseball coach Darin Erstad, who threw out the first pitch. Erstad later joined the Royals’ broadcast crew as a guest in the FOX Sports television booth, answering questions about his MLB career, Gordon, Nebraska baseball and more.
