Congratulations to Robby Painter, son of John and Jan Painter, as he becomes a walk-on with the University of Nebraska Football Program. Below is an email that was sent to us from John and Jan. (Originally Posted on February 20, 2012)
We are very excited that our son, Robby Painter, just signed with Nebraska and will be on the 2012 football team. Robby played his high school football for the Grandview Wolves and enjoyed great success with 20 wins over the last two seasons. As one of the team captains, Robby helped Grandview reach the State 5A Semifinals the last two years. He was selected 1st Team All Cherry Creek Conference, and was also selected 1st Team 5A Colorado All-State Offensive Lineman along with Paul Thurston, who is also going to Nebraska. ….
Robby has always wanted to attend the University of Nebraska since he was a small boy. His grandparents live in Lincoln, Jan grew up in Nebraska, and his sister is a Sophomore at UNL. For the past several months Robby was enjoying the high school recruiting season, talking with dozens of coaches, and receiving many full-ride D1 offers. After committing to the D1AA National Championship team, Eastern Washington, Nebraska offered Robby the opportunity to “Walk-on” and be part of the tradition-rich program in Lincoln.
It took Robby about 30 minutes and two phone calls before switching to Husker Red……….it has been his life-long dream to play for Nebraska and we are so happy for him.
Robby is 6′-6″ and 270lb, but only God can make him a Corn-Husker.
GO BIG RED!
