This year I opted to stay in Lincoln for the first part of the summer, which is something that I’ve never done before. I’m still trying to get used to the hot weather! Unfortunately, the weekend after finals week I crashed my bicycle on a weekend ride and ended up with a badly sprained right hand. This has certainly put a bit of a damper on my summer excitement, but I am recovering quickly.

Three weeks ago I started a summer internship with Habitat for Humanity. I have spent most of my time shadowing the executive director and learning as much as I can about what goes on within the nonprofit world. My goal with this internship was to get a sense of how Habitat operates so that I can apply some of those principles to my own nonprofit someday. I have met quite a few incredible people along the way and am absolutely loving it so far!

I’ll be heading back to Colorado sometime in July, and then I am off to Rhode Island to visit family with my mom. Before I know it, I’ll be back in Lincoln getting ready to tackle my last year of school! I also want to thank you again for all of the support that CFN has given me over the past three years!
